31 Day Blog Challenge: First Celebrity Crush

Johnny. Depp. 21 Jump Street. It was love at first sight. I wanted to kiss his face through my TV screen. I didn’t though ’cause that would have been awkward with the folks watching. Goodness gracious me! Johnny was gorgeous. That hair, his eyes, his cheekbones, his beautiful mouth, his butt in denim.

90s Johnny was even prettier than 80s Johnny. In my humble but accurate opinion, he eclipsed every other so-called heartthrob of his generation. The fact that he was also immensely talented cemented my forever love.

The only predictable thing about his roles is that they’re sure to be off the beaten path. I love that he takes chances. He makes me forget that he’s beauty personified and instead I get lost in the characters he brings to life. I mean, after all these years, I still weep for Edward Scissorhands.

A sprinkling of my favourite Johnny films are:

  1. Edward Scissorhands
  2. The Ninth Gate
  3. Sleepy Hollow
  4. Chocolat
  5. Blow
  6. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
  7. Once Upon a Time in Mexico
  8. The Libertine
  9. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
  10. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
  11. Public Enemies
  12. Alice in Wonderland
  13. Rango

I’m yet to see Black Mass and Murder on the Orient Express. I have to schedule some alone time and a huge bowl of popcorn for that movie night. I don’t want any interruptions. I don’t want anybody trying to chat with me while Johnny is on the screen. I’m not about to miss a raised brow or a half smile of his.
